The last week and a bit has been a lot of fun! A couple really cool things happened: I was having coffee at Credo Cafe with a friend when I heard my songs randomly come on, and was driving with my parents and got to hear "Thank You" on CKUA! It's a pretty cool feeling to hear yourself randomly and think "hey! that's actually me!" If you ever do happen to hear me and like what you hear..please let the stations know that you are enjoying it!
I also got to perform at #yeghaiti at Original Joe's and it was really wonderful to see all the people who came out to support the cause (and meet some of Edmonton's very supportive twitter community who pooled together to create the event) Some absolutely fantastic Under 22 artists performed as well as getting to share the stage during my set with Al Brant and David Scott which was a pleasure! My brother Wayne joined me that night (after doing a little set at a party beforehand too) and I would really like to thank him as I know that giving up your social life, which I believe was a pretty fun party that night, to hang out and play with your sister may not always be the coolest thing for a 21 year old guy. My friend Katie also came out earlier that night to help us with backups though she was suffering from a cold and I so appreciate that! On the way out we did get to catch CBC’s Key of A, where a few of my songs were played and “Simply Luka” on CKUA was wonderful in playing a song that night as well. (Yes! I was a really good Saturday for me ☺)
I spent some time chatting with Dave Woods in Ontario for his show on Blog Talk Radio called “In the Country”. As a fellow songwriter, Dave was great to chat with! You can take a listen to the interview at :

Hellooo out there☺ Hope your 2010’s are shaping up to be great. Speaking of shaping up, I’ve decided I’m still on “holiday eating schedule” until Monday, when I will try to “be good”. It’s hard with the goodies still lingering! I got to spend some time away over the holidays, and went to Panama with a group of (brace yourself!) 26 friends and family!! I know it sounds crazy, but in all honesty there was always something to do, someone to hang out with, and enough space around that you could be alone if you wanted to as well…it was a ton of fun. Getting back to Edmonton was cold, but beautiful! The snow lined trees always take my breath away (although moreso from inside a heated space☺) Also got to spend some great time visiting more family..doing Christmas singsongs and catching up. So far, the new year for me has continued to be exciting…firstly CKUA Radio and CJSR in Edmonton have added me to their libraries, so stay tuned to them. It is so wonderful to have radio stations in our community that are so supportive of local artists!
Thanks so much to everyone who has gotten a CD so far! Wanted to put out a little something that those using itunes may already have noticed. It will be a few weeks until my disc is registered in their catalogue…and until then, they code it to the nearest CD (in length or format?) to mine. Which, to much comedy is a rap CD! Haha I had to giggle about it…most of my friends say that I act like a grandma trapped in a young body (personally…I think there is nothing wrong with drinking hot water and lemon ☺), so the idea that a “cool and urban” rap group would come up under my name is funny. Rest assured, the CD works fine and will show up with the right name/song title info momentarily. Thanks to everyone who pointed it out though…it’s a good thing to know!
Where can I get one you ask? In addition to being right here online, the CD is available at:
CD Plus, Sherwood Park Mall, 2020 Sherwood Drive, Sherwood Park
Megatunes Edmonton, 10355 Whyte Avenue Northwest, Edmonton
Megatunes Calgary, 932 17 Ave SW, Calgary
I now have a profile up on CBC Radio 3…check it out and vote, I might get played on a few of their podcasts: http://radio3.cbc.ca/bands/Erica-Viegas
New years resolutions? For me to play live a bit more…I put that on a back burner a bit with recording and this is a year I’m looking forward to playing a lot so stay tuned for dates!
Again, a big thank you to everyone who has passed along the site and music to others, who have tweeted, joined the facebook page, myspace and been so supportive and excited for me. If you think of anyone who would appreciate my music, please let them know! Thanks for reading!!

Wow! This has been such an exciting week for me! Since the website went up and the CD arrived just 4 days ago the response has been so overwealmingly supportive. I've received so many super kind words from people who have listened to the songs posted, friends who have told friends... who have told friends, and I've been hearing from people I haven't spoken to in such a long time. Very cool! The most exciting thing is hearing from people I've never met who are enjoying things and want to hear more. THANK YOU so much to everyone who has been spreading the word, has bought a CD, or who has given me feedback. I very very much appreciate it! While exciting, it was pretty nerve wracking to know that people would be listening to the songs after working on them for so long...and have opinions both good and bad. The great reinforcement this week has been wonderful! Also...if anyone is ordering a CD online between the 21st and the 29th of December, it most likely won't reach you until around Jan 2nd, because of Christmas and because I'll be celebrating with my family in Panama (yay...I'm looking forward to some sunshine :), but it will get to you! Sooo....thanks again from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has been spreading the word, and have the merriest, happiest, jolliest, yummiest (hehe if you know me, you know a food reference will be thrown in there) Holiday Season!

Welcome and thanks for stopping by my brand new website! Please look around and hope you enjoy it! The last year has been pretty busy playing gigs around Edmonton, and recording my first EP, Where My Heart Goes, with five of the songs that I’ve written over the years. I had a blast doing it, especially after hoping for so long that someday I would! I recorded it with Dave Stoten at Failsafe Studios here in Edmonton, with Nathan Kidd on drums and percussion, my friend Mathias Silveira came in to play violin, and especially fun, my little (ok he’s 21 now) brother Wayne on guitars. All of them were great to work with, and I was a little sad when the recording part was finally over….but excited to finally get to share it with everyone! So….please check out the music section for more info on the CD (which I hear would make a great stocking stuffer ;) and have fun exploring. Keep checking back, as details for the CD Release Party will be here soon, and I’d love to see you there! Thanks again for stopping by!!! Also...since it’s only a week away, Merry Christmas and hope Santa is good to all of you!
Erica ☺
